Joshua's Story

My style

People often ask me what style of photography I shoot. I usually tell them it's the "Real McCoy" style. Every photographer has their own style of the way they shoot. It's the way we as photographers portray what we see through our lens and how we document our subject.

I personally feed off my subjects energy to artistically capture the passion, romance and beauty from a wedding; the excitement, emotion and fun from a high school senior; the love from a family. I have a fresh, modern, laid back approach to my photography. My goal is to connect with you, to establish a relationship that allows you to relax and be yourself; that's when great shots happen.

I would be truly honored to be a part of capturing and preserving the special moments of your life. I'm anxious to hear from you!

My love for photography started in 1994 when I was in the Army. Stationed just outside Savannah, Georgia, I traveled the south to some of the wonderful plantations around, to some of the gorgeous beaches along the Atlantic coast and to some of the best small town country festivals, all with a camera. During our training exercises, I loved capturing the action of the huge explosions from C4 as large chunks of earth fell from the sky and the reaction on the faces of my fellow soldiers. Or a beautiful sun set in the desert where the sun was setting over one enormous mountain ridge with the sky filled with red, pink and white clouds on a deep blue sky. I felt compelled to photograph what I saw to share with others.

Military life came and went, but I took photography home with me. It was now becoming more than a hobby to me, but a way of life. I came to value photography as a creative outlet.

Family and friends were noticing my work and asking me to document their lives. Needless to say, I upgraded my equipment while taking photography courses. After shooting my first wedding, (my cousin's; thanks Tara) I was hooked! I continued these "side jobs" for a few years and came to see real potential in pursuing photography as a career. With the encouragement, love and support from my family, I was able to start Studio M Photography in 2006.

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I now live Ross Township with my beautiful wife of 11 years, Sheri, and our two wonderful daughters.
